Ahhhhh Wyoming more cowboy country.

We even got to see a cowboy herding cattle with his dogs.  And one herding cattle on a 4 wheeler. But I didn’t have time for the photo.

Now to our day. We left friends and kin behind and headed East.

INTO WYOMING 035

This is cattle country. Some stock tanks were dry as a bone, but some like this one was prime.

INTO WYOMING 069

Wyoming has mountains and LONG STRAIGHT ROADS AT TIMES. The roads were mostly good today to make a pleasant ride.(On the skyline you might can see the wind farm)

INTO WYOMING 040

My favorite thing is wall-scapes and rock out cropping's.

INTO WYOMING 044INTO WYOMING 045

Snow fencing is common all along the interstate. It helps to bank the snow.

INTO WYOMING 046

I never get enough of this. I snapped 73 shots today.

INTO WYOMING 047

How about this:

YOu gotta love these rocks on a ranch!

(above) Tunnel coming up!

You know what they say about the light at the end of a tunnel, just hope it isn’t a train.

INTO WYOMING 054INTO WYOMING 053

Now you can hardly see these below, but these are entire trains at one look. You can do that out out west, but back east you can never see an entire train.

INTO WYOMING 059

Look at the black line the brown in front is snow fencing.INTO WYOMING 060

These hills look like velvet

INTO WYOMING 061INTO WYOMING 063

The valleys are beautiful and green.  Wind farms abound as well as beautiful sights and snow fencing.

INTO WYOMING 067INTO WYOMING 068

I do a lot of imagining as we travel in this area. I see the Cattle drives from Texas. The Wagon trains from St. Louis and the Mormons walking and/or riding on the trek for the great salt basin and the land of the Ute.  I cannot help myself in admiring the fortitude of our settlers.

So instead of riding into the sunset with my sweetie, we were headed into this eastern sky, in which the sun will rise in the morning with us in Wyoming.

We ride sometimes all alone in our thoughts; this time WITH the satisfaction of a job well done. Getting the family out on an adventure we had dreamed of for months. She looked over at me and said, ‘WE DID IT!’.

INTO WYOMING 071

Thanks for coming with us on this leg. 437 miles, Past the Devil’s slide, thru towns like Rawlings, Laramie, Green River and Cheyenne.  Making this trip 3,843 miles.  On this leg we took on 47 gals. of diesel at $3.83!

We are good to go in the morning!

Thanks for coming along.

Well you can tell I live in south Texas. I never heard of snow fencing and sure never needed it. lol Wow! This is my favorite part of the trip I think and I'm sure the pictures doesn't do it justice. Yes you two did it and that is just grand, so glad you did get to.

Thank YOU for inviting us and taking us along with you; what a great trip!
I have never heard of nor seen snow fences. See! I learn something new every day (every hour, if I pay attention!)
Hugs,
J.

Great pics! I like seeing the train all at once, like the rock formations and cloud formations.
Must be a very satisfying feeling for you and Sherry to have gotten your family together (though the happiest shot of little Stella was when she was on the plane headed back home, lol).

we have snow fence up north in the open areas and it works...the drifts aren't quite as deep. I love the train all in a row. but we sure do not have all of those beautiful rock formations til you hit the central to southwestern part of the state. OHHH
you and Sherry sure had a grand time with your family...loved the flight.

We do have snow fences in northern Ohio so I'm well acquainted with them but there isn't such a long range of open space here like there is there. Your pictures were wonderful. Once again showing me places I've never been too. The two of you did a good job of getting your family together. That is a good feeling for sure. Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

I was so startled when Paula and Jean said they had never seen snow fences. It has always been part of my life. Great photos. When we had this crazy and his girl friend killing people all around Lincoln, Charles Starkweather was his name and they killed 9 innocent people. Cops were everywhere but they caught him not far into Wyoming. He tried to shoot it out with them but Charlie ran out of bullets so they took him alive. He died in the Electric Chair. His girl friend claimed innocent, which everyone knew was as guilty as he was. Sorry for taking all this space but thaT CASE was the scariest because our kids were little and you knew he would shoot them just for fun.

You have such a way of capturing the perfect pictures that make us feel like we are riding along with you and Sherry. It makes me want to get out and explore this great nation we live in! Keep the great landscapes coming and safe travels to you both!

That is a lot of miles - I am a horrible passenger. I tend to tall asleep very easily. Do you have that problem? I'm serious - I don't think I could do it.
So I do like seeing it on your trip! We don't have any scenery like that here in GA. We are not that dry and rocky. Hilly yes.
But you did it!
And you are having fun.
