Shock and distance…..

I am not a real Obit follower, I don’t have to be, Sherry will inform me if someone passes away back home. I did accidentally subscribe to new obits from our local mortuary.  Sometimes I open them, sometimes if I am pressed I skip them. At our distance from home, the net serves a great purpose.

Day before yesterday I clicked it, and a FACE I KNEW WELL popped up, Jerry Ward. Wow, I am older than Jerry.  Jerry and his son-in-law Darby have poured a lot of concrete for me over the years. The last being our slab for the motor home at our sons previous home.

Jerry Ward

Rest in Peace Jerry.

He took time to joke with Sherry for this photo-op of her working concrete.

(Our game) Every job asked Jerry, “Is this job guaranteed?”

His stock answer, “I guarantee all my work, I guarantee it to get hard, and probably crack!”

He always said anyone pouring a driveway cannot in all honestly guarantee anymore. LOL

Darby is a great guy. He does a lot of work for Shirl, they get along great.

I have always said, “Someone will open the paper one day and see my face in the obits, some will be surprised.  I was with Jerry.”  That is not morbid, it is real life. I plan to enjoy life to the end, just as Jerry did.

He is the third brother in the Ward family to pass on this year.

Here in Las Vegas there is so much to see. We are not gamblers, Sherry is a t-tottler but I will probably waste $5 this trip. They tell me that is why I don’t win, I say, “I am going to lose the $5.” So just to check that out. This time I am saying, “ I am going to invest $5, before I lose it!” LOL.(If I go inside a Casino.)

These are not the highlights of Las Vegas, but a couple pictures. The first two are  sort of skyline shot.

Does anyone know anything interesting about these two gold buildings below, besides they are twins.

The rest were shot at night. Most of the lights are too bright to photograph.

Every one has heard of Caesars Palace.

We went out to eat with cousin Dewey.  I did not know until last night that his brother Henry lives here also. So we will get to see two cousins today at dinner.  I chose Ellis Island.

More from Vegas later.

PS:

Live, Love and Laugh. Enjoy your time here, believe me, at best, it is short.

1983 280Z I am behind the times, I saw what looked like a Brand new 280Z here in Vegas.

I also saw a classic Jag, yesterday and couldn’t get IT, not a picture. the Jag was not a favorite of mine but I like them.

My sincerest condolences to you and your family on the loss of your good friend. I know that you were blessed to know him. It is always hard to lose a friend...
Regarding the hotel, at first I thought it was Mandalay Bay (that's where husband and I stayed on one of our trips to Vegas)...but I enlarged the photo, and it looks like a Wynn. One was being built when we were there...beautiful!!!
Sending you hugs,
Jackie

Like you I always have to look at the obits in the paper. It is a shock when you see someone you know. So sorry for the loss of your friend. I don't gamble but I think if I got to some place like LasVegas I'd have to spend at least $5.00 just to say I'd had the experience. Hope you enjoy dinner with your cousins.

Sorry about the loss of your friend. Checking the obits must be a woman thing. I check San Antonio every day online and Pleasanton on Wednesday the keep John informed.we're such big gamblers we drove to the Eagle Pass casino twice. Stayed an hour or less and drove back home. We went the country roads and that was fun seeing where they drag the bar ditch by the ranches so they can spot which way the illegals walked.

So sorry about your friend. I took a picture in the Golden Nugget when we were there many moons ago, very quickly they told me pictures were not allowed...I turned the flash off and took another...yes I'm a rebel sometimes...ha. Have fun! Sheila
