Beaufort is a beautiful old seaport town with a lot of heritage. Its history shows it was one of the richest towns in America, then the Poorest town in America, and now since 1938 has been a growing thriving old town, again on the rise and very prosperous.
The old two story houses with porches up and down. Live oaks, Palms and Palmettos fill the open areas.
One of the nicest things about this water front park are these swings facing the bay. There must be 30 of them. Each one help up by two Ivey covered pilings. Neatly trimmed and it gives privacy from the swing next door. They are comfortable and very relaxing.
Behind the swings are shops and eateries.
The bridge to Ladies Island and on to Helena Island.
My girl with the Public Piers in the background.
Okay Time to go to the Red Lobster …
I had to shoot this Yellow dude, (is this a Hibiscus?) as we walked to the car.
Nite Shipslog
PS:
I did learn that the little town of Yemassee was named for the Yemassee Indians, who left this area (too many white men) and joined the Seminoles in Florida.

Another place I have never been too - so glad to visit it with you and Sherry!
Such a pretty place. Love everything I saw. You 2 are so lucky. After Chatty's blog and seeing this pretty scenery I think I will live to be my dads age 97.
Such beautiful old buildings and
everything looks clean and well
taken care of. The flowers are
rich in color.
Hope you got to the Red Lobster.
Making me hungry.
Those swings look great! I think I'd plant myself in one of them and spend the whole day there! Interesting how the city changed from prosperous to poor; glad to hear it is making an upswing again.
betty
Beautiful old historic town. ENJOY!
Hibiscus sounds good to me. I can't grow them up here but they are gorgeous. I recall seeing lots of them in FL. in 82.
I could line a bunch of those swings up between our spruce trees...wanna help? beauford is a pretty place I'd love to visit. Bill would feel so out of sorts., my lumberjack.
Reading back, I'm glad you took Sherry for a stroll and memories on PI. and just look at the 2 of you, still as beautiful and handsome as 57 yrs. ago.
Life's Been Good, Yes!
Those swings look so inviting, Jack! I'd love to walk those same avenues someday....
'Feeling privileged you two shared your own walk tonight!
Hugs from Phoenix,
Myra
I can travel with you and your sweetheart right here! Your vivid descriptions always make me smile! Good to be here, it has been a while! Enjoy the weekend and I love seeing your wonderful travels!
Hi Jack. I do hope that one day we will be able to meet. I would love to sit and talk with you and Sherry. I know we would get along so well. You are such a sweet couple, and I enjoy reading your blog.
So....you are in South Carolina now, eh. You two have THE most fun on your travels. How I would love to sit in one of those swings. They are situated in a perfect spot...and to see so many swings side by side like that! Must be beautiful in person.
You are in a lovely town, indeed. And I hope that you have a perfect time together. Knowing the two of you, it doesn't matter where you are. You make it lovely....
Hugs to you both,
Jackie
So now you two are swinging? You all have more fun then the law allows. Ever heard that expression? They are beautiful.
I would feel right at home there with the swings. I do love my porch swing. However, it has become too cold now and I'll not be out on the porch again till probably sometime in May. It looks like a lovely place to visit. Enjoy !
hee hee... That Ford experimental sucked the same lemon that the Edsel got ahold of!
Jack, let's link this post to «Louis'» Sunday Bridges.
It will open late Saturday afternoon.
I loved my visits to Beaufort. Thanks for sharing yours. :-)
