It could be just me, but my red ‘x’ is getting hit a lot lately.

I am reading the news and see a headline and click it. I get this endless circle turning an turning and things never seem to load, so I hit the red ‘x’ and forget the article.  I must do that 20-30 times a night.

I love the internet. I am addicted.  I have real friends on here that I like to hear from. Most of these friends are bloggers or blog readers.

Sherry spends some time on FB, and interacts a little; mostly with the family and especially pictures of great grand daughters one in Utah and one in North Carolina.

She admits to sticking pretty close to Grand kids and her sons also.  I might go to FB more one of these days, but the writer in me wants to say more than a line. IS THAT GOOD?

EXAMPLE: I don’t care how good a church goer you are there has been at least ONE speaker “WHO DID NOT KNOW WHEN TO STOP!”  In your mind he was the ‘Diehard Rabbit’,  going on and on…

When I started my AOL Journal I would type and type many times over 2,000 words. I accidently read a comment by a niece  to someone else that ‘Uncle Jack was TOO WORDY!’  I started noticing, the blogs I really liked to read were seldom over 800 words (Not including quotes), many I liked were less than 400. I had friends who could say a ‘bunch’ in less than a 100.

So I have tried to stick to the 400 limit.  It helps with discipline and trying to be more concise. I really do like my word counter it helps me to know when to start winding down. I had a good pastor once who, after closing his sermon, kept on with ‘good’ comments or statements.  That is like backpacking, 65 pounds of ‘weight saving good stuff’ is still 65 pounds.

I remember so well a very old church goer, who described a minister as one of the best, because he left you wanting more…..

As a writer I would like to find that secret. I love a book I cannot put down, one like Betty just described, a page turner.

Thanks for coming this way for my dribbles. Oh shucks, that reminds me of a Journaler who went by, “Dribbles by Chuck”, A great guy who blogged from a nursing home.

Thanks for the shout out, Jack. I do know what you mean about pastors and sermons. I've sat through some in my day that it was like "enough is enough, you've made your point 20 times already". I do too like the pastor who leaves you wanting more. I try to do short posts, but for the life of me I can't, LOL. I like FB to keep up with family and playing the games, LOL, I try not to spend a lot of time on there. I too like the Internet and can't imagine life without it, but we did live life without it just fine :)

I got off of FB. Too much gossip and politics, hate it and life is so much less stressful...if any of the family wants to keep in touch, they have my phone # and address...I haven't heard from any and I'm still doing just fine. Gives me more time to bake pie and eat it too. lol
I have a real hard time keeping my chatter down to the lesser count too. Some things don't change.
Life is Still A-OK

I am on Facebook to see family and what they are doing OR to put some pretty pictures on --- I agree - Facebook if you are young and put too many items on - your employer might find out what you say. And how do you know how many words you type? Is there a counter - and I happen to like your posts. sandie

When I got my new computer I missed the little X so much and didn't know how to get rid of things. Finally I read in Windows 8 For Seniors For Dummies to point at the top of the screen and draw it down to the bottom and WA-la it just disappears into wherever.

I re-read the things I write and see where I use to many ands, buts, that's and the's which can be deleted. Mot to good on counting words and I know sometime I get to wordy. Oh well I'm getting old and can be excused. hee hee

I need to go back to school, lol. Sometimes I don't reread what I have written before posting. I get myself into it on Facebook.
A friend wants me to post 7 things that no one know's about me and I thought do I know anything that they don't know? No! I want post it, it might come back to haunt me. Take care. Jean

In a similar vein, most columnists (for example, George Will or Charles Krauthammer) limit their columns to 500 words. When «Louis» writes, he can get wordy. He has to go back into what he is writing and parse the excess.

Great looking Hudson "woody"!

I'm with Lucy. I like to read your blog long or short. Hope you soon get a better internet connection. Sound like it is better for you some places than others. I love blogging and don't get into FB other than keeping track of some of my family. I love to journal and do it online. After a stormy Sunday, the sun is coming up here this morning! Hope you all have a great Monday!

I agree with Lucy and Ma, I like your entries long, short, skinny or tall. :-D We got a little rain over the weekend mostly last night when I decided to run to Kohls and Target to browse. Cooler weather should come back tomorrow. Think I need to get serious about the snow dancing, get out my costume, shoes, wand, etc... ;-) Come on Shirl I think this is the week to start! Love from up here, Sheila
