Suwannee River State Park, Florida

There are several RV parks along the Suwannee River.  This is our second one.  We were only at this park for one full day, but we did get in a little walking. They have several nature trails available.

We are more into the natural beauty of the USA than the destination play activities. If you have ever been around low country ( swamp areas) you know there will be lots of brown and black water.

Swings are always a hit. These facing up river and the shot below is the view of the Black Suwannee.

The Suwannee comes out of the swamps of Georgia, so it is tea to black colored.  The say it comes from much decaying vegetation, that sounds feasible.

The headwaters are in the swamp, but she is fed by many springs.  Florida springs, I’m not talking about your mama’s spring, like a gallon a minute, these dudes produce a big creek. Above is one spring emptying into the Suwannee and below is from up the creek looking into the river.

Love the grotesque exposed root systems from years of up and down currents.

Another spring up river, I estimate about 50 gallons a minute, These springs are always pretty.

This is looking across the river. That is a sand bar, a great place to camp if you were canoeing the river. The sign in the distance says Gas line crossed the river, no anchor etc in this area.

This is a neat formation of rock. I called it chimney rock. this is about 25 ft. high. and looks like it is there to support the tree limb.

Lets go inland for some real black water and cypress.

This is not the river, it is labeled a Lime sink, It comes near being a swamp. LOL

This is a giant cypress. Seven or eight feet thru at the base.

Back to the river and I see ‘across to the other side’ 4 kayaks or canoes.(3 yellow 1 red). The folks spending the night are camping up on the flat. I could see the smoke from their camp fire.

Methinks God allowed trees like this for boys and girls (and some grownups). Trees like this must be climbed or walked, it is some kind of law built into the kids mind.  Even more demanding if it is over water…

That one is worn slick from the demands of the mind. (I made it 4 feet!).

You cannot see it well, but that is a dad (Andy) and his son (Syrus) (Dar’s son and grand son) Sy had to walk that fallen tree. What memories, and Dad had to go follow.(Bill held Darla or she was going!)

We are in Wildwood Florida, 77 degrees and nice!
