Just a taste
Early Foreign Cars
Sherry has many wonderful attributes. One that I consider ‘unique’ was stressed by a sweet young lady, while in GITMO.
On a visit Pam said to Sherry, you amaze me. Just a bite can satisfy you sometimes? Me? When I take a ½ gallon of ice cream out of the freezer, I could eat the whole thing, and sometimes do. Pam was a sweetheart, and a good bit overweight.
I thought about that last night when Sherry said, “I think I will get a little taste of ice cream tonight.” I seldom eat ice cream. I prefer sherbet. But just a taste won’t do me either, but I settle for a bowl. The quart of sherbet I bought 2 months ago is still ¾ full.
But my girl is a taster. For some reason just a taste can satisfy her. That is SELDOM me. WE are not overweight (much) but we constantly try to control it. For instance we have been eating what we call my magic soup (3 days a week), off and on for a month or so. I have lost a solid 10 pounds now. My weight is at a steady 150. I am pushing for 145. I was 137 in 1956 when I was a young marine. I wouldn’t mind being that now, but she said I would be too thin.
In ’56 my girl was 110, she is a good size now at 134, but wants 130.
I have friends/acquaintances who have lost up to 150 pounds each. One has maintained his weight. The others gained back most of what they lost. IT IS TOUGH. I admire folks like Betty and Lisa here in Blogsville who wanted to lose weight and did. That must bring satisfaction.
We smile when we hear, “I wish I didn’t have to worry about my weight like you guys.” We both could weigh twice what we do, and that is no exaggeration. When we gain, which we do, we find some way to cut back. We have followed (loosely) several diets. I think ALL diets will work, if you stick to it. Problem is sticking to it. WE ARE NOT exceptions.
Did I read that headline right?
