A week is very short. I just realized that actually our weeks are 6 days, one day is traveling. Ha! When we are stopping for a week at the time. We had hoped to re-tour Charleston, but no luck. We drove over to Charleston AFB, but the weather was not conducive to touristing (my word).
(Charleston Pics, I could not find mine from the last time down!)
I still loved the drive over and back, I am hooked on roads (black top) , our friend Paula here on the blogland loves those dirt country roads.
Oh, and that reminds me. There is an OLD cemetery within walking distance of here. We walked thru it, I found one, so weather worn all you could make out was the first name ‘Judie Deveaux ’ and the dates, 1840-1909. My mind goes to wandering what did Judie see in her life. That is living thru the Civil War. (I think it should be Uncivil War, war cannot be civil.)
Judie Deveaux
But Judie lived to see the light bulb begin to replace the kerosene lamp, but not where she lived. She lived to see a Car (maybe) and heard of the first airplane flight (1903). She never earned over a nickel an hour in her life in South Carolina.
She must have been a tough lady to live 69 years, she outlived her peers.
(A sign of Low Country, the grave covered with concrete protection from flooding)
So much history in a grave yard, most of it forgotten in this type of cemetery. I hope some of her family is still around and remember her. Sometime I would like to find the graves of my grand parents, just to touch base. I am not sure if anyone is alive now that knows where they are buried. We moved a lot growing up, I remember going to Georgia to funerals, but I was less than 5 years old.
We leave Wednesday morning, it is only a 3-4 hour drive. I am trying to drive 55 to save fuel. Have you noticed diesel and gas is getting higher. I did see $3.78 reg, and $4.05 diesel here, and SC is supposed to be the cheapest state around for fuel.
Thanks for coming by the LOG.

PS:
International signs:
Cocktail lounge, Norway:
LADIES ARE REQUESTED NOT TO HAVE CHILDREN IN THE BAR.

After I posted the silly sign from Norway, I looked for a car in Norway, I found this one. Showing that Car lovers are world wide. I do not know this car, but it is the 1930’s by the body style. (IMHO)
Gas appeared to be $13 a gal.

That was a fast visit for you there. Gas was 3.69 when we went out today. Last time I filled up it was 3.96 so it was much cheaper...of course I didn't need gas. By the time I do it'll go back up I suppose. I can remember the energy crunch in the 70's when all the speed limits went down to 55 to conserve. Cold and wet here with rain and snow on and off. BrrrChill!
Gas prices are falling....just like the temps....up here!! Regular was $3.87.9 at Wal Mart this AM and the temp is now 59*....i wish one would go up and the other go down..hehehehe
Safe travels my friends...
Where are yall heading now? Thanks for the view from your low country, Sherry
Well I guess you will be home
tomorrow. School is out this
week so you want have to worry
about the traffic for Page
School. Looking forward to your
return. Hurry on home.
Shirl
Thank you for this interesting journey. A safe road ahead. Over here, they have many advertisments currently trying to sell cars which run on diesel.
Jack can't drive 55? Hmmm. But you are trying :-).
LOL Fuel here in north WI is $3.99.9, that's $4 bucks a gal. to me. Mercy!!!High enough to putcha 6 ft. under. DangItAll!
We just came back from a drive out east of here for a Broasted Chicken Dinner with our neighbor who recently lost his lady friend. He says, the gas prices are high but not so high that we can't afford to spend time and dinner with friends rather than eating alone. We agreed to do this at least once a week. He and Bill have become close friends over the years.
As for cemetaries, I love walking them and wondering about the history there. I agree, I need to touch base with the Grandparents, parents, home. Safe travels to you.

Gas is becoming so high. Gee - we were near Charleston - we went to Mrytle Beach. Looks like you had a nice time - and enjoyed your tour - makes me smarter. sandie
It's about time you headed home. Shirl's been holding your RV spot all this time. Probably turning down lots of offers from ones who don't try to run off without paying the fees... ;) Welcome back to NC tomorrow, Sheila
Looks like an interesting cemetary to me but then most of them are to me. We haven't made it to one in a while. Safe trip to you two!
I made it to your blog personally just to show that I really can do it. Made a few today. Must stop now. Therapy is next and the pain is, at times almost unbelievable, but I can see improvement so it is worth it now. Where are you and Sherry now? I have missed so much but won't be long till it will be full force. Later, my friends.
