That Kitchen

 Memorable Automobiles from The Past:

 1969 Ferrari  Dino

 For today:

Not everyone has a picture of the ideal kitchen, but I have one.  I have always enjoyed the IDEA of an Island cooking area in the kitchen. The crazy thing is, I could have done it for us and never did. I have built 3 custom houses for Sherry and I and have NEVER put my dream kitchen in.

Fro one customer I built a house that had a nice angled cooking island.  I also bought and remodeled one with a straight kitchen, the island was squared with a sink and stove in it, like below.

                                        (something like this!)

I enjoy cooking now, I don’t like searching for the right pan or pot, nor the larger utensils such as the spatula, or large spoon. I have pictured at times the island with these utensils, pots and pans hanging above obvious and within reach.

Silly me, I built us a house with an indoor pool. Then this one with a master BR 40x16 not including the closet and bath. So JACK, why not the stinking island? I have no idea.  LOL, This house has only two bedrooms. Because I converted the two largest BRs into the master BR. It is twice the size of our RV (I still prefer the 8'x8', RV bedroom!)

I will not remodel to make the island. And most likely this is our LAST real home (I have said that 4 times!) so forget it jack, just cook and shut up!  LOL

Is there a feature in a home you envy, maybe not envy, but have thought would be great, like my island?  LOL

Gorgeous! All the same, at this stage in my life I prefer smaller quarters -- easier to keep clean and cool affordably! Now you'll never catch me saying 'no' to a big wrap-around porch.

The ceiling in that kitchen is amazing. I've never seen brick on a ceiling. And on a curved ceiling no less. Very cool. I would love to have a big island in the center of the kitchen much like that one. I would love a dining room with a beautiful view. Then I would put the table in front of that window and eat dinner there every night and enjoy the beautiful view.

There are a couple things I dream to have in my house one day.
A white kitchen with an center island and A screened in back porch.
I don't ask for much.

I would think an island could be in the way unless one had a big kitchen :) One of our rental houses we lived in had kitchen drawers that opened up. It created so much more storage. I absolutely loved it! Not a big kitchen but with the drawers like that, it made it seem bigger than it was. I would do that here if we ever decide to remodel the kitchen (highly unlikely :)

You're very clever building your own house. One feature that would be good is taking my house with me wherever I go on holiday; both in the UK or abroad. It would save on hotel costs.

God bless.

I too would love a kitchen island, but since I only have a galley style kitchen there is no room for one. I thought about using a rolling cart for my island, giving me extra work space, but even that got in the way, I was always pushing it from one end of the kitchen to get it out of the way. I guess, some dreams won't come true for either of us, but yes we must keep on cooking.

And I thought I was the only one who talked aloud to myself and answered. lol, I love that. I've always wished for two things, one is a walk-in pantry...we partly resolved that lack of space with the antique ice box we restored. It has remarkable space.! The second is still wishful thinking, but a 4-season screened in sunroom so we can watch the wildlife evenings without getting chewed up. I just may get that one. Wouldn't that be a hoot. I like Victor's idea.
loven'hugs from up north where we're in for another storm tonight...we sure needed yesterday's rain but more would be even more appreciated. It's been soooo dry up here.
