Final leg of trip recap!

Leaving las Vegas without losing a dime (or winning either!), we headed for Albuquerque, NM and the long awaited meeting with Buddy, my friend and his Lady Di. Yep Lady Di comes from across the pond and the UK. One sweet lady, she is very nice, like most of the folk we have met from the UK.
We spent a week just getting reacquainted. We haven’t seen Buddy since 1956, what a thrill it was to know he also had lost some of his wavy hair. But the surprise was he had aged and became his daddy, God rest his soul.
Reluctantly leaving Albuquerque and all the wonderful South West sites and folks, we headed across Texas and stopped in the very edge of Oklahoma. The next day we found out that OK does not keep up their roads well at all. We drove on thru Arkansas and the roads were about as bad.

I guess all considered, that in the 10,000+ miles we only had a few hundred bad miles on the road, so I will try to stop complaining.
Thru Memphis to Tupelo and a trip thru history with Elvis. Then on to Arley, Alabama and an evening with Internet friends from another Forum. We had a great time with Christopher, his wife and beautiful daughters, meeting them in Jasper.
Then to a Corps park in the edge of South Carolina and on home to Belmont, NC. We arrived in time to spend a small amount of time holding Ruth’s hand before she passed.
So that was our last long trip, we drove the Van and Motor Home over 10,000 miles in 84 days. We also had a near hit, visiting San Antonio, and hoping to see Paula and John, but we only crossed Texas up in the panhandle.
And there you have it. AS I have stated, this was one of the best, if not the best trips we have enjoyed, and we have made a few. Next report will be on our upcoming trip to Biloxi, Mississippi.

Thanks for coming this way,
Nite Shipslog

It truly sounds like an enjoyable trip! I always know when I'm hitting King County (Seattle) as the roads are the worst in that area. You would think with the population they have they would have better kept roads. Go figure.

I'd LOVE to get back to San Antonio TX. We were in Vegas recently and like you we didn't lose a dime - or win anything either! It happens that way when you don't gamble. However, we did play $5.00 provided to us by the hotel. Oh wait, my daughter Kim was with us and she won $70.00 from the freebie play! =)

I love Sherry's knowledge and wisdom :) AND I must tell you, the more I share about your trip across the country with my hubby, the more we are thinking of doing the same. We would love to sell our house first and then hit the road. Talk about downsizing!!! Geez!!!

Sherry is wise in not putting the red fruit in a fruit salad. You guys really packed on the miles in a short time. Glad every thing went as good as possible.
