Time out for repairs

Someone mentioned that I looked good thinking! So I was thinking again.

Santa used to smoke Luckies, even brought them for Christmas until the Cigarette nazi's got on to him.

I was thinking how cool those contentinental kits were, looks good on a '56 chev. Convertable.

And then I thought I had better get to work.....

Along with a few things Mark (youngest son) wants us to do here, we will try to catch up with the things we let go on the trip. The awning has been broken since we stopped in Detroit (second stop). It was a little embarrassing, flopping going down the road, but we didn’t pass too many folks that knew us or cared.
I have the awning off now and have scrubbed it good. If I can’t find a replacement on the net, I will have this one restitched . I think I can cut it down without any terrible wrong to the awning.
I have already ordered a replacement mirror for the Odyssey, our Toad. Also we needed to replace all four tires (OUCH) on the toad, the rest were weather cracked, and that is probably what was wrong with the one that blew.
The battery has been giving us a little trouble, but the kid checked out and said it read good!
The one thing that I am dreading is the heater coil. It is a bear to change. I have changed it once and was hoping I would never have to do it again; however, with all the rough roads and treatment, it sprung a leak. Soooooo I will replace it again. There are two or three screws you cannot see, they must be felt and done blindly. I did learn something last time. The Digital camera is great for letting you see what is there rather than just feel. One quick shot and you know whether it is a nut or a screw.
Sherry fixed pintos, cabbage and salmon patties for Mark and Luke. Luke always has toasted cheese cause he don’t like the country cooking meal.
So I got an update on Ruth today from Helen. We hope to meet her up there in the next day or so. Ruth is up in a wheel chair but real weak.

Sherry's beautician and super grand daughter, cancelled on her hair tonight but will take care of it Saturday. She is having dinner with her mom tonight, both are sweet ladies. Yeah, Reece is partly responsibile for Sherry's great hair.

Thanks for stopping by the log,

Money can't buy happiness, but it sure makes misery easier to live with.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

LoL @ the misery being easier to live with when there is enough funds. I also chuckled at the cigarette Nazis that did poor Santa that way taking away his Luckies. Wonder if they would have any luck at the church? ☻ Now the face on that first picture looks like maybe "stinkin thinkin"! Ha

You do have your work cut out for you there. Better to be safe than sorry they say. Good you have a place to go to in order to get it all done. I'd never turn down a dinner like that for a grilled cheese...Kids are funny like that. Sounds like a great dinner to me.

It doesn't matter if you're gone 8 days or 80+ it always seems that something needs fixin' when you get back home. I'm so happy to hear that you're safely back on solid ground for a while to catch up with everything. Know that Ruth is in my prayers.
As far as money not being able to buy happiness ~ I always said I would just once, like to be able to prove that point one way or the other, and be able to give it my honest opinion. Take care and good luck with the repairs.

I've bought my can of salmon and the first day John is gone to visit his sisters I'm making me a big batch of salmon patties and I will think of you two. John doesn't like to smell fish.

bet it is good to "put down roots" and visit with family for a bit, Jack and Sherry, before you head off again for your next adventure. Ouch on the tires!! but the good news is they will be safe for many miles ahead!

yum on the dinner too!

glad Ruth is hanging in there; I know you will enjoy seeing her when you can

Well looks like you are going to be busy. Better
safe than sorry. Don't work to hard like you
did last time. I'm glad no one saw the flapping
awning and embarrass the family. LOL Glad you
are home a good place to do repairs.

Cigarette "Nazis?!" How about a surgeon general who has saved many of us from asthma by exposing the dangers of even second-hand smoke?

Now, onto important business. We bought a new awning about a year before our RV lost its V status, and according to Richard, became an R (needs a new motor, which I doubt we'll ever get).
Perhaps it would fit your home...
