I made Applesauce

Autos of beauty that failed over all
The Buick Riviera that did not go over so well.

For today:
I am an apple eater, but with my stomach messed up for a while I had too many apples around that were ‘mellowing’ so I decided to make applesauce. I only removed most of the seeds and all stems but no peeling. I ended up with 2lbs of cut up apples. I stepped on the bathroom scales, too my weight and grabbed the apple chunks, thus the ‘close’ weight.
Using ¼ cup apple juice and ¼ cup water, ½ tspn cinnamon, ½ tspn lemon juice and 1/3 cup brown sugar. I cooked them about 15-20 minutes then blended it all. I thought it needed some salt so I sprinkled a little in during the blending. Tastes good and I saved the apples.
I know I waste some things, but it seems a sin to waste an apple. Hahahahaha  Apples keep one healthy methinks. However I am living proof they don’t help hair nor hearing. LOL
Apples to cars:
Have you noticed how busy auto repair places are?  Every place I know of and see is loaded with cars to be repaired. It just hit me yesterday why. Growing up and until about 10/20 years ago I did most of our mechanical repairs. Now it is ALMOST impossible for the handyman to fix a car due to the complexity of the rascals.

I used to do points/plugs/timing, brake and carb work. Now those ‘fun’ things are not required anymore. There are cars out there still running good with plugs that have never been changed in 200,000 miles. Kids don’t get the thrill of getting burned on manifolds, busting knuckles on slipped wrenches and having the pleasure of hearing that engine smooth as you moved that distributor to reset the timing.

And when you asked your buddies to help.... Sometimes you got too much help. LOL

Your applesauce recipe sounded good, Jack! Never thought of putting salt in it though! So true about cars these days. No one can work on them unless they are a trained mechanic I think! And the car companies know that and charge accordingly :)

They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away and in many ways they are very good for you. i love homemade apple sauce and am one who makes it often. Like you i don't like anything to go to waste. It is delicious and the only hard thing about it all the peeling of the apples. I do remember the days when DDH fixed everything on our cars but that changed with all the electronics involved. The boys still talk about working on the car with dad. Now we have to pay high dollar to have someone else fix it. Hope you are already for Christms there! Happy Christmas Eve!

If you weren't already married, Tom would probably ask for your hand. (Bahahahah) Seriously, besides my mother, he loves apples and applesauce to distraction.
I remember while in high school when Shop/Auto Mechanics was a super popular class. Don't suppose they even offer those sorts of things anymore.
