I watched ‘Short Takes’ from the ‘Grammy
Awards’ with the ‘AMAZING DISPLYS OF TALENT’. Not only could I not understand
a word that was spoken or ‘sung’, but some of those actions would have sent
someone to jail for lewd and lascivious displays, in earlier years.
I was raised in a time when
Sinatra and Dino were popular. I was there when rock and roll started and Elvis could not be shown on TV from
the waist down.
My mind isn’t completely gone
because I remember many people over the age of 36 were sure the youth of the
50s were going to hell in a hand basket listening to that ‘CRAP’.

So now I am old, and I know how they
felt; but were they right????? ....... Yes, partially.
Most of us grew up, defended the constitution, paid taxes and became solid citizens. So despite
that ‘nasty’ display I witnessed, I know it is possibly that some of our grands
thought it was great. If so, I know none of them are wild, crazy, ignorant nor stupid.
They will survive it all and make good
decisions down the road. I really do not know what music my mama and dad liked AT THAT TIME. I know their interests were hymns & gospel songs. I
cannot remember my parents listening to a record player.

But I cannot help but think the kids
of today are missing songs that say this, as they sit and smooch (Do kids still smooch when they are in love, or just look at their phones??) :

PS: Today we visited with Bud and Di, two good friends. We talked a long
time as we sat for lunch. As we stood to leave Di said, “WE sat so long my butt
went to sleep.”
Bud innocently(?) spoke
up, “Yeah, I think I heard it snoring!”
The rascal has always been fast on his feet! Good night Y’all!

My oh my, Jack! You sure said it right about the Grammy talent/no talent but extremely lewd and lascivious. Won't their mama's be proud....sorry for the mama's. I had to switch channels until the display was gone....did you notice the clapping was nearly nothing......I believe the Grammy's lost rating or should have. I love the 30's-60's music over any of today's stuff...even a lot of the country music isn't good ol' country anymore. In respect to music, I'm stunned with the exception of a handful. I'm old too...still defending our constitution as it was written, and appalled there are those that want it all rewritten. What's happening? I still believe ' In God We Trust.' Loved Bud's reply to Di and especially loved the old-timers with their cool cars. Keep on hoping......for a better future for our grandloves and theirs.

I think every generation says the same thing about the youngsters. It does seem to be getting worse we can only hope that something we''ve taught them follows through and influences something they do. Yes we all grew up just fine, hopefully they will too!
Great post, Jack. Ya, I had no desire to watch the Grammy's -- and wasn't in the least disappointed to read where their ratings tanked. Some journalist called it, 'Politicized" and "Vulgar." Makes me really sad to think our young people are becoming de-sensitized.
But then, I listen to Dean singing "Memories are Made of This" and I get glad again.

The music I used to listen to, my parents did not approve of, is now played on the “Easy Listening” station.
I have always tried to accept the music my daughter listened to as she grew up but it was mostly boy bands and teenage idols just like when I was young. I’m glad I never had to hear heavy metal or rap music coming from down the hall.
