Memorable Automobiles from The Past:
FIRST: AH HA, Lisa is right in her comment:
Wait... I want to solve the
“D” in fridge....It used to be called a “Frigidaire”. Have a good day. Lisa…
She is absolutely right! How did I miss that?
Fridge does come from the product name, Frigidaire, not Refrigerator. Thanks…
For today:
Humans are very ignorant of REAL life at times. You know there
are things that will kill you if you eat them, right? Try arsenic. Or if you
have a bad allergy to peanuts, and eat a hand full, you will suffer and
probably die.
(I learned that once when camping at Standing Indian in NC once.
I have told it here before. The man would have died had the Ranger not gotten
him to the hospital in time.)
I know folks up in Wisconsin that grow mushrooms to eat or sell. I
don’t know when I became aware you could die from eating MANY KINDS of
mushrooms, but I became leery and only eat what I can buy in the produce
section.
An acquaintance of our family, known to me as ‘Doc’ once with a
bad case of sugar diabetes. He refused to follow a logical, prescribed
diet. He loved cake and ice cream. He actually made a statement, “I will eat
what I want to, if it shortens my life 10 years, SO BE IT!”
He was in his 40s, his mind was picturing, just dying at 60 vs 70
yrs of age. He never thought about the suffering before death he would experience.
Both legs were amputated due to the disease.
NOR that his mind would be stolen due to the disease.
During the last few years of his life he asked my BIL, “Why did
God allow this to happen to me? I have served Him, lived a Christian Life now
look at me!”
BIL said the man had enough pain without reminding him that he had basically
asked for his condition.
My mama also had her legs amputated, but from lack of use, NOT
diabetes. Thankfully mama’s mind left her and she didn’t seem to know her legs were
gone, THAT was a blessings.
A sad smile at the above situation. I was talking to Doc’s
daughter about our parents’ conditions, I said to her, “At least Doc hadn’t
lose his memory.”
She quickly said, “Jack, dad is crazy as a bed bug!”
Lesson: We SHOULD we should pay close attention to our doctor on
serious health issues.

How we take care of ourselves when we are younger makes a big difference when we get older.
Your mama had her legs amputated from lack of use? Wow! Sorry and may she rest in eternal peace with her fully functioning legs and with all her faculties completely intact. And yes, we should pay close attention to any serious health issues we have. What's more important good health or money? Money is nice but what's the point if you don't have your health?
Wise advice Jack to listen to our doctors and as Sandi said taking care of ourselves when we are younger does make a big difference when we get older. Young people really need to hear that I think!
betty
So much pain and suffering.
God bless you and yours, Jack.
I will listen to a doctor sometimes but most of the time I do not trust them. Eating clean and healthy and get some daily exercise is the best medicine to me. Doctors just want to put you on drugs. Vitamins are my only drug and I only believe in a few of those.
Off to work

Yes, sometimes it is our fault and we need to have regular check ups and listen to the doctors. When we're young it doesn't sound like 10 years will make a big difference. But as I've gotten older, I want to enjoy every year I get. We can feel just fine, but a doctor will check our blood pressure and it's a silent killer, Best to pay attention.
Good illustration, for sure. My father was a great example of Quality (of life) v. Quantity.
I've no doubt, had he taken time to see a doctor he wouldn't have passed so quickly, so young. (Hard to wrap my mind around the thought I'm now older than he was.)
I'm going to remember your friend Doc the next time I think about starting up smoking again.
Amen and Amen. I keep telling John that. He only takes his meds when he feels like it so has days when he is completely out of it...sleeping round the clock. However, no one can tell him because he "knows" what is best for him. So be it, I guess.
That is sad about the man with diabetes and also about your mother.
Blessings to you and Sherry. Hugs- Diana
