Sheets and grand dog!

 Historical Photo:

Mosers Guns banjos and mules at a livery stable. Around 1890. Note no saddles and the mules have blinder harness rigs for bridles.  Neat shot! Tennessee, probably Knoxville.

Me today: I’m trying to remember if we had two sheets and a blanket aboard ship or just one sheet.  I think it was two. Because the first was put on with hospital corners all round and the 2nd just at the foot. I think.

What brought this up was I think Sherry is wearing our sheets out washing them every week.  ‘’’’’’’’’’’’’’  Okay I will be honest, I have written four paragraphs twice and deleted them all, I realize my logic would not hold water with the number of girls that read this blog. So I will drop it.

As I type Janie (our Grand dog) is snoring. She is visiting us for the night while Mark goes to the East Coast to visit his dead-eye buddy, Kenny, from Key West days.  Janie has her own sheet here. I didn’t put it out and she was going around pawing at the carpet to tell me she wanted her sheet.

I threw her sheet out and she was a happy camper. I don’t know what it is in a dog that they like to ‘arrange’ a bed before lying down. She pawed it into a pile, lay on it and in minutes was snoring.
Anyway on the ship our sheets were washed weekly too, but Sherry didn't know that. LOL
Our laundry (personal and sheets) was turned in to the ships laundry weekly and returned the next day. If your clothes did not have your name on them they were LOST! Sheets were not personal so if a hundred sheets were turned in they returned a 100 clean sheets.

It's terrible when you don't have anything to say on a blog.
Nite y'all.  I hope you are warm where ever you are whether your sheets are clean or not.

PS: Friend Buddy sent me some good advice and a little  sarcasm……

I bet Janie don't care if her sheet is clean or not. She looks comfortable and cute.

I love seeing snapshots of sweet Janie!

Up 'til a couple years ago I'd wash our sheets regularly each Saturday. I dunno if we became cleaner (ha) or what, but only the pillow cases get laundered every week now. The dogs don't seem to mind, and Tom's begun spending many nights in his recliner where he can sit up.

A grand dog is delightful! Nice you have her company for a little while. They do love their beds. Getting colder here with a winter storm advisory on the menu. freezing rain and a sheet of ice for us.... followed by a blanket of snow! Ha !

We had the same weather as 'MA' and it's cold, cold!!! Janie is a fine gal, manners asking for her sheet, making her bed. Sweet! I enjoyed reading about how you made your bed aboard ship. You always have such interesting tidbits.
love n' hugs as I bundle up to feed my feathered friends this morning. I have ice to chip off the feeders so they can enjoy breakfast.
