The importance of a helper

Early interesting Cars:
I always wanted a 1934 Ford, but never owned on. Coulda bought one in 1955 for $50. but didn't have the $50!

For today:
Sherry and I worked from 8:30 to 4.  We removed the old door and storm door.  This is a 32” back door into the kitchen. I never understood it, and cannot remember hanging a 32” exterior door. The 32” is so un-handy. Many things will not go thru it and make it hard getting things like a refrigerator nowadays thru that opening.
JoAnn’s house is brick veneer and makes it a BIG job to change it to a 3’ door. The mason’s did a good job of a plumb line but mighty tight to get the door in place. Without my helper I could not have done the job. To tell the truth Sherry is too much of a doer to make a good helper in most cases. But today she did good.  I say that not as a negative remark, but being a good helper is tough (IF you are a doer!) Most of the time Sherry starts off well but then finally says, CALL ME when you need me. (HINT!, I’ve things to do) That (CALL ME) seldom works. I will not call. I can usually go do or get what I need instead of ‘waiting’. In my youth I was my mentor’s helper, if I was not by his side and he had to wait, his statement was true, “Dollar waiting on a dime Jackie.”
Today we worked well together, although she had to wait for me a couple times when I did something wrong and had to reverse myself. Both these doors were high dollar doors therefore have more bells and whistles.
The storm door had 9-10 pages of inst. And came without handles, JoAnn had to buy the handles separate, and they alone were $44. These were handles only, no lock. LOL
We must go back, I was beat and did not get the closers installed. But the job looks good

PS: The Oxymoron for today:
Why do we say something is out of whack? What is a whack?

Four hands are always better than two. So glad you had your helper handy. I don't know why they make doorways so small so that when you move the refrigerator cannot make it though . We had that problem when I moved and they had to take the door frame off and that was a bother. I miss not having a helper around here. Seems like when I was younger I had more than enough, now that I'm older, a helper is hard to find most of the time. Good thing I'm renting now and the owners have aservice crew. They come whenever needed.

I am Rick's assistant too. It is hard to wait around when y'all 'get things ready'. Nice you have her. Kind of what MA said today. Love, sandie

I know about 32" doors, how they complicate life. Who came up with these, anyway?

Go, Sherry! You are the key to success in anything you do.

I never thought about differing door sizes! Tom's usually a "thanks but I can do it myself" type. I wonder if that's on account his helper (ahem) has difficulty keeping her mouth shut. HA!

Seems like you guys did great together and got the job mostly done! I'm the assistant here, which usually means I'm the one sent to find this or that when needed.

I never get to be the “doer” because Nick is the “doer over”. I figure why do it when he’s gonna go behind me a re do it. However, I’m a pretty good helper but often just more in the way. Thats when I say “just let me know if you need me”.

Happy Sunday.
