Cool customs from the Rock and Roll 50's
For today (Sunday):
First my neighbor is James
(Jim) Arp http://www.rockabillyhall.com/JimArp.html
Belmont has produced some good ball players. In Sherry’s class
there was Jimmy Hall who played for the Yankees, Cubs, Braves, Indians, Angels
and finally the Twins. Sherry had a nephew and I had a child hood friend who
went pro for a few years from Belmont also..
Evidently a few Actresses and
Actors also. These are fill-ins and bit parts and whatever else you call the
actors who are not the stars. I only know that part because while in business
my bookkeeper said he had five people in Show business, Hollywood, he still did
their books and taxes.
My eccentric neighbor Jim Is in the Rock-a Billy Hall of Fame and was featured in two movies and
introduced many of the nationally famous rock stars. To be fair, Jim is too
good natured and has given a lot away. I am afraid he has lost some of his
ability to deal with the ‘STUFF’ he has accumulated over the years. His houses
actually look like what is called ‘hoarders’. You can’t help but like him. He is
unique in one area. He says you could put all the booze/beer that he has drank
in his lifetime in a half coffee cup. Doesn’t smoke and has never done drugs of
any kind, that is an amazing thing.
He has published two books, some screen plays and is an amateur artist.
one of his guitars to pay his tax. I keep
reminding him I want the vacant lot across from his houses.
For the last few years of his working life he was a very
successful disc jockey. That is Jim!

Your neighbor and friend sounds like a unique fella. So much artistry from your surrounding area is quite impressive. We only had gangsters up north. lol Maybe the day will come when your friend Jimmy will be ready to talk about selling that lot. For now, I know you will remain his genuine friend.
love n' hugs from up north where we are quite happy with sunshine even tho the air is still so cold. Have a great Sunday Jack and Sherry
All things considered, I think you have a great neigbbor. It could deifinitely be worse.
Thanks, Jack! I'm not familiar with Jim's work, but Tom used to jam (is that the word) with the Del Rays. He's going to be thrilled to see read this and see the old photos.
Talented man Jim was! I think sometimes when people get older it is overwhelming figuring out what to keep, what to dispose of, etc. I can see why some older people become "hoarders." Jim seems like a good man trying to do what he can with what he has to work with.
betty
What an interesting life. Not many people have experiences like those!
My lasting remaining Aunt's house is packed from dirt to shingles. When she passes, who knows how my cousin will handle it all. He once said that he will rent a dumpster.
