Cream Cheese

 Automobile  OF Cheese:

For today:

My cholesterol is up a bit, but I have a good doctor. He KNOWS I will not take the statin. I lost an upper arm muscle a few years ago while taken it and STOPPED. I added a lot of oatmeal to my diet with Sherry’s help and watched my diet, it is now a little high, but manageable with my present health, according to my good doctor. My entire list of pills is A one-a-day vitamin Sherry 'issues' daily.

I was eating an 8 oz block of cheese a week. Sharp cheddar or Colby. I even like them mixed. I love cream cheese also.  I guess I am a cheeseaholic. LOL

Cheese must be complicated to make because mama never made any. But I love it.

We just discovered something new to us, ‘whipped cream cheese.” It is TOO easy to eat. I must watch it or I will cave in and eat too much. Sherry loves it too.

Funny, I NEVER liked the packaging of cream cheese, but this is a great change.

WE were young before the BIG super markets. The biggest thing we had ever seen was a Military Commissary or the A&P Grocery Store.

THEN I joined the USN, in Norfolk we shopped at the GIANT, our first ‘super store’. They honestly had a HOOP of cheese the size of a 4’ kitchen table and about a foot thick. One of the most amazing things I had ever seen in a food store. (It was cut and did not have the Dutch girl!)

The biggest hoop I had ever seen was about 16” in dia and 4” thick.

Dar told me that Colby is made just south of them in Wisconsin.

You gotta like cheese, which cheese do you prefer?

I love all sorts of cheese, but don't have any problem with high cholesterol. I love that whipped cream cheese on bagels and on crackers too. It makes it easier to spread on anything. Soft and creamy all the time. There are lots of ways to combat high cholesteral. Oats and oatmeal are good so are cheerios. Good thing your gal takes such good care of you !

We've one of those 'whipped' containers in the frige right now! Soooo easy; so good!
Favorites? That's a tough one. My usual 'go-to' is sharp cheddar, but runners up include: Baby Mozarella, Bellavitano and Roquefort. Come to think if it, I don't think there's a cheese I haven't enjoyed!

Walk a bit more, Jack, and I bet you get the cholesterol down. I love cream cheese but since I'm watching what I eat these days, I've avoided getting it. I liked that whipped kind with pretzels dipped in it. So yummy! Pretty much any cheese I like and will eat - and eat too much of it!

Ummm, YUM!!!!! I'm a cheese lover, especially Roquefort. And dilled Havarti, a friend from Berlin introduced it! Cannot find it here, but Aldi's has a plain one that's delish! And smoky Gouda, sharp Cheddar, Swiss and Velveeta with ground beef and salsa for a dip, served from the crockpot warm. Recently, I have been reading about grass fed; google gave me a list of producers online ~ one half of a brisket was $32, OUCH! I found a packet ground, locally that was less than $6/lb. Those will be small patties for sure!!! Interesting article, Jack. Sending love from Chobee, Glenda

Why can't they invent cholesterol-free cheese? You know ... cheese without the bad fats in it.

God bless.

I like to take the whipped cream cheese with chives and spread it on one side of a flour tortilla and put a row of roasted red peppers from a jar and roll up the tortilla and eat. Well I cut in half first. I’m more of a mild cheddar than sharp, but like the usual cheeses.
Take care, Sheila
