The Military and abortions?

 Car of the day:

(I debated long before publishing this, it has been written for weeks!)
So for today:

Most guidelines, rules and regulations regarding our military are NOT guided by religious or moral beliefs. Our great military is made up of men and women of ALL religions, colors, races, and beliefs. From Bible thumping conservatives to atheists. They are from all 50 states, and territories.  Rules try to respect personal and religious beliefs to the ‘nth degree.

When a soldier is dying, they try to get the proper chaplain there if requested. His belief is stated on his dog tags.

Volunteers are ordered to bases around the world and in every state.  Where state law is not federal law, federal law rules.

When an individual signs on and swears to die for this country, if necessary, the country (military) says we will take care of all your medical needs while you serve.  So the military leaders have contended that if a female member choses an abortion because she believes it is in her best interest, they allow it.

It goes deeper than that of course and it is probably a simplification. You see, because the Commanding officer of a medical facility is anti abortion it doesn’t matter.  If the CO is a Muslim, he cannot refuse to serve pork in his mess hall. If a Mess Sargent is Christian, he must offer an alternative to the Muslim when serving Pork Roast, etc. They even offer fish and hot dogs on Friday.

In a pinch, Protestant Chaplains do Mass.  Catholic Chaplains fill in for the Protestant, etc.

So if a member of the military believes that abortion is their best health alternative, the military doesn’t tell them, huh uh,  It doesn’t matter if the state they are stationed in refuses abortions, the member cannot help that. They did not choose to be stationed there; they were ordered there.

Now we have a Senator who is holding up many promotions in the military until they change their rules to fit his beliefs.

I do not believe in abortion as population control, BUT I believe as millions of citizens do, there are exceptions. As I have said here, if My wife was pregnant and the Dr. would say, “Jack we have a big problem, it is your wife or the baby.  WE cannot save both.” I would not hesitate, "Then save my wife, if the baby doesn’t survive, it will be in the hands of the Lord." I believe there may be other exceptions, but I do not force my beliefs of someone else.

We cannot legislate morality, we tried it with Booze once. Great empires of underworld wealth were created and still hold until this day. I do not know for sure, but I am told that a big part of the Kennedy dynasty was founded on illegal Alcohol.

Outlawing ALL abortions in some states has already killed some. A desperate fool will still use a coat hanger.  I am a man, I have no idea what it is like being pregnant, much less carrying that child 9 months, and the pain suffered in child birth.

Please believe me, I respect, appreciate AND admire what you mothers went thru to be a MOTHER, God Bless YOU!

I just want to clarify, things stated here are my opinions, I respect and admire the military's stand and  yours.

PS:  I was against women in combat, but once accepted as normal, hey, I follow orders. Thank YOU ALL, for taking the time to stop by to visit. It makes us smile.

If you do not know, I have military experience, I served in the USMC, USAF and the USN,,,  My Sherry worked for the Army!

Personal beliefs aside, I've learned something new.
I've never been strong enough (physically nor mentally) to serve in our armed forces, but admire and pray for those who do.

I don't think any branch of the government should control our personal choices. Each individual has a right to decide for themselves. I'm happy to see the military take this side of morality. Morals all differ and religious does play a big part but not all of our decisions . Good post but a difficult one for sure !

Abortion as a means of contraception/birth control is murder. Abortion, in a medical emergency to save the mother, is acceptable. There are exceptions in certain cases.

God bless.

Women shouldn't be in active combat. Unless she is strong, bug, and doesn't value life, then she should hold back.

I really really appreciate this post. You have written my thoughts. Your honesty shines through.

My thoughts are different but to each their own. I am just glad I never have to make such a choice.

A soul is conceived
At conception
All souls belong to God
Whether you’re a soldier
Or not
You have to live
With the consequences
