Transition of a back Yard (a few years back)

This was the back yard of our last house.  This was going to be sort of a home base, knowing a lot of dirt had to be moved I called my friend Sticky and his Yellow Cat.

003

Sticky is known in our area as one who can work dirt. He is a natural, and as far as I know has not used an instrument to gauge his ‘grade’ (level).

I gave Sticky an idea of what I wanted and turned him loose.

019

Look at our house in the back ground, this house has been remodeled so many times it has 7 different roof lines.

022

I couldn’t be out done, I had to get my little red tractor into the action. (smile)

016

About right here Sticky stopped the loader and came to find me. “Jack I’m sorry, but I hit your sewer line.”

026

I looked and he had skinned the top of my 4” line. Believe it or not, that is exactly what I needed. There was a small crack, just perfect for my sewer line cut & connection for the motorhome.  He smiled when I said thanks. It actually was a GOOD accident.

After a few weeks and using a paver Sticky recommended. we had black top.

Three men and a lady dump truck driver and it was soon done.

Then replacements for the old boat storage shelter

Then we had a nice place for the Motor home and a place for Stella to play.

You cannot see it well, but in the back ground the storage buildings have been converted to a small one room efficiency complete with washer/dryer, bathroom and a combination kitchenette and bedroom. Which is the college home for Luke, Stella’s uncle.

The house with 7 roof lines is the home of Stella and her mama.  The RV & Car ports are our home when we are in the area.

The side by side transition.

I was just sitting here thinking of my friend Sticky. He isn’t in good health. Since I don’t plan on building anymore, that is probably the last job I will work with Sticky.

PS:

I enjoy thinking of good times.

Since we travel a lot,  I didn’t see Sticky for two years after I wrote the book ‘Sticky’. And then I was in town and we met at Bojangles accidently. He grabbed me in a bear hug and whispered,  “You made me Famous.”

When I went to take your latest
book to Jeri-Lyn's Jeri told me
Sticky's wife had just left. I would loved to have met her.

We were reading on the back of the
book Mary Ann and it said "One knock on the door and opening that door her life became mentally, hell on earth". Now we got to read to find out who was at the door.

Loved the photos with Sticky. You both are such talented men with those machines!

Hugs to my favorite couple.

P.S. I'm trying to catch up with all my emails after coming home from Boston back to Florida.

My hands start to hurt and I have to stop. Just letting you know you both are always in my thoughts and prayers.

The transformation is wonderful. You really made the place more versatile.

You have a wonderful place to return home to when you want to. You and your friend do very good work. Not all of us are so fortunate or talented for sure. It is funny how some mistakes are made for the better.

I liked the look of determination on Stella's face when she was riding the scooter :) Such wonderful memories of building with Sticky, plus the friendship you two have!

I remember reading about Sticky. Good to have a lucky accident like that. I want one of those flying cars that way I could go up but not too high and let me down where I want to be. Stella seems to be intent on mastering that scooter.

What a amazing transformation ... and making sweet memories all the while!

I, too, got such a kick out the determined expression on Stella's face. Just when I think that girl can't get any cuter ..... :)
