BUT it was number 78. "I ain't never thought I would reach that number." Very few folk in my family reached it. I found the love of my life when I was 15 Dated her the first time when I was 16 we were married when I was 17, so 61 of those birthdays were celebrated while married to Sherry.
I am not sure if my folks had a camera when i was born because this is about the earliest photo of me, I like it.That is Shirl with me. Big brothers were off in the war. That is a '41 chevy the year about 1943.
I am sure several of them were celebrated
while I was deployed or aboard ship on a cruise. But this one? I cannot
remember a better one. Had I known it would be so good, I might have gotten
here sooner. LOL
We sometimes take time to reminisce, this morning and tonight were
two of those times. In my arms she feels so right. We take time to
say how fortunate we are to still have our health and each other. We lay in bed
with nothing rushing us, nor requiring our attention and just talked. I am
still getting used to understanding her without reading lips or asking her to
repeat what was said, it is so pleasant.
I have probably said it before, but she is still the most
beautiful woman in the world. I love the soft skin and curves. Legs? She has
the prettiest. We do joke about that. When I first met her all I could
see of her legs was her ankles and about three inches of legs that were in
Bobby socks, but I knew they would be beautiful. It remained that way until we
married. Yep, I was right, they were and still are.
(This is a HS picture, probably the year I dropped out and was dating Sherry. I once had hair!)
We worked around the house catching up and getting ready to go on
vacation. Then she took me out for Chinese (one of my favorites). I had
phone calls all day (Sherry still has to handle those). E-mails and messages
and FB full. It was busy, but fun. THANKS to all of you for the BD
So tomorrow will
just be a regular day. Wash the car and motor home, get ready to go on
vacation. It will be the first time I have driven the coach and been 78
We have both bathed in the new shower (at separate times). And yep, she
changed the shower curtain, drats!
I was born in 1939 this was
the Chevy then:
And this is the 2017 Chevy :
When I see this, I might feel old. LOL

Happy birthday, Jack!! What a wonderful adventure your life has been as you have shared it with Sherry! LOL about the shower curtain; you knew that was going to happen! Seemed like you had a wonderful day and now a vacation awaits you! Enjoy it! To many more birthdays!
Like the picture of you and Shirl. Happy you had a nice birthday and wish you many more.
HAPPY HAPPY BIrthday. Glad you had a nice day.
PS) My husband will be 78 in Sepember and enjoyed your post today to celebrate your birthday from 1939.
Good lookin kid. Sherry is a lucky gal. I can picture her in bobby socks. Tooo cute!
I still laugh about the shower curtain! I think its so funny to me too because I once had a clear shower liner (no curtain). We had some of the same laughs. I compromised and replaced it with a "peek-a-boo curtian that was half white and clear at the top. We now have a fabric curtain with a liner behind it. Ha. Couriosity is more fun.
78 ain't too old
Sounds like a wonderful happy Birthday! Something to celebrate for sure ! Time to make some new memories at your new age. What an adventure ! They say birthdays are another trip around the sun. Enjoy yours!
Good to hear your birthday was so much fun! Love the high school pic, you may not have that piece of paper diploma, however what you've accomplished over seventy eight years has far more significance.
Looking forward to your vacation!!!
We both have had a good life with wonderful parents..Mother made the clothes we were wearing..She was a good seamstress. Life the picture standing in from of DAD's car. I think the picture of you sitting in a chair holding Bingo our dog
and Mother standing beside you may have been a little younger. Brother you are
getting close to my age....
PS: like I said I can't type anymore The word should have said in front, not from..
Happy Birthday Jack! I will have to say you are still young at 78 like Shirl said you keep on having them you will catch up with us. Lol. Glad you and Sherry enjoyed your day. Take care.Jean
Your energy and love for others is what makes your world keep going round.......you do remind me of my parents, even tho Dad's gone now, Mom still never gives up on life...she'll be 88 in a few months but, like you, sure does not look her age. I think it's wonderful.
Have the time of your lives on your vacation. Continue to always choose to be happy and sweet.
love and hugs from up north where we are having an amazing January thaw.
Well, it is tomorrow, that "regular" day, but you, once again, are sharing that day with the beautiful, stellar-legged girl who is the love of your life. Your regular days might just be what other people think of as great days. But separate showers, there was an opportunity that I wish you'd not missed. Think of the water you'd have conserved, think of the environment, your carbon footprint! HAPPY HAPPY (belated)BIRTHDAY.
Hey I wrote on your facebook - Happy birthday - but I want to tell you in person - HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I am so happy you and Sherry are together and that there good marriages in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sandie
So delighted to learn YOUR day was spent so indulgently! (LOL ... that's a GOOD thing!)
That photo of you and Shirl is adorable, Jack; and it's neat seeing how young people used to 'dress up' for their school photos. I was recently looking at an image of "Grody Day" in my h.s. yearbook, and realized some of those outfits aren't nearly as awful as what today's teenagers wear to school. SMDH!
Well, it looks like I'm late to the party--just reading this blog post on your "ordinary tomorrow," but HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
