Dreams and dreaming
Autos of beauty
My first dream car:
For today (Wednesday): First a WOW and thanks for all the comments on Vacuums I do appreciate it.
You guys out there in Bloggersville are the best. I get ideas and an education as I read. But this one comes from Queen Tarryterre. http://taryterre.blogspot.com/2020/03/binge-watching-ancient-astronauts.html Who would have thought she dreamed of being an archeologist? I got a kick out of the last entry of hers. It also got me thinking you are on the downhill side of life can you remember your dreams?
…During WWII I wanted to be a sailor. My brothers were my heroes,
…Ever see a tightrope walker? I did once and I wanted to do that, they were so cool. I checked my balance that was out. I knew death or broken bones would have been my fate.
…I watched stockcars, thru the fence. That is it. Speed and danger, I could be a stock car driver. After I wrecked my car I decided I would not fit there, wrecks are no fun.
… I studied surveying a couple semesters in college. That was out.
…I watched the movie, Sands of Iwo Jima, I could be a marine! At 17 I tried it and then…
…Maybe I should be an Airman, so I joined the USAF. Promotions were slow, but I met some good people. One was a preacher. So then….
…I thought I should be a preacher. I tried it. As long as I was building I was happy, but once the church buildings were finished, I was.
….So I dropped back to my childhood dream of being a sailor. So I joined the USN
… I had been a good part time carpenter. After the USN I became a General Contractor. That was one of the most satisfying jobs I ever had. I hated to leave the job at quitting time. I loved to see Monday’s come.
Between wanting to be a stock car driver and becoming a Marine. I found SHERRY; she was/is my DREAMGIRL. She gave up her dream of being a nurse and followed my dreams. While following me, she also set out to retire Civil Service so she worked at it. In all that time WE loved camping. Sherry retired and I quit building to follow OUR dreams of travel. After 22 years, I think we are winding that dream down. I don’t think they are dreams anymore, just plans.
