Mondays? Never a problem

I don’t know if I just picked the right jobs, or I am just happy wherever  Do you know anything about churches/businesses and their problems with temperature controls.  That is one of the largest headaches, having a building the right temp for the public.

I had a pastor tell me once that I must be a lizard, I didn’t care what the temp was, I never complained.  Many folk, like my Girl Sherry, carry a sweater or jacket in the hot summer, if they plan to enter a building, because most places are too cold for her.

I have heard folks complain about Mondays all my adult life, I don’t remember complaining about Mondays, if I did it had to be in school, school was not my favorite place growing up.

I have mentioned IQ before. Learning I had an extremely high IQ made me lazy. I thought that meant that I was very smart.  The secret of a high IQ is that YOU HAVE POTENTIAL, you CAN make logical analytical decisions. IT DOESN’T MEAN THAT YOU WILL!  There in lies the joke on us with a high IQ, you  end up being mediocre.

Don’t get me wrong, I never feel sorry for myself for not reaching my potential, you probably didn’t either. Most folks don’t.

Most nights I tuck my love in, and I tell her she is the most important thing in my life.  I always tell her, ‘we would have had nothing, if it was not for you’.

Every once in awhile we laugh at life. Comparing our first place, a rented 8x26 foot 1 BR trailer; to this 38 ft. Motor home. Sherry says, ‘I thought our little trailer was a mansion’. What we lived in has never made any difference.  I moved her into a remodeled chicken house once.It was each other that mattered.

But come Monday morning? I was ready to go to work, earn that paycheck, no matter how small, it provided for my girl and me.  I honestly feel sorry for folks who hate to go to work. I wish everyone could love their work, their mate and be happy with their life.  Life is so much better.

Our old ‘68 I fixed up for  Mark.

We love Lucy here on the net.  Lucy refers to us as ‘rich’ sometimes. We live like millionaires so I don’t mind. At one time we were pretty well off. In the last 20-25 years we have really wanted for little. But we have never required much. We have never needed a new car. I never minded driving a car 10 years old. My pickup trucks were old, I never felt the need to impress any of the other builders.

I could have had an office down town, but why? Sherry never minded talking to potential buyers and furnishing coffee. It upset my son a couple times, because he felt running with the Big dogs was impressive; but I could underbid most of the competition, because I could settle with less  profit.

Enough, Be happy with your portion in life, if you are really unhappy ask yourself why?  If it is that important then change. If not, Love life and smile.

Life is good. Just go ask MA, or the Boomer!

Our snow is melting today and looks like rain, it is so dark out. Lazy day here after the busy weekend. It takes very little to make me happy these days. Hope your both are enjoying that warm weather! It's so nice to know someone that values all the days as much as I do.

I loved my work but I also love
retirement. I love Monday and feel
it is a day of rest to start a new
week. I am thankful for all that
I have as a matter of fact to much of some things like shoes and clothes. Just wish I would have had your IQ think what I could have been and not a Retired Secretary. LOL

Hey sis, I wonder(about 30 seconds) where I would be if I had applied myself. Then I think of men like Stephen Foster dying young and destitute on, or near skid row. BTW your IQ probably exceeds mine you were our only graduate.
Love ya!

When I was younger, a couple of people in my neighborhood switched jobs & industries very frequently...and every job or industry was the WORST while they were in it. I don't think you picked the right jobs, I think you are a grateful, hardworking, honest person...which transfers well to any job. ~Mary

Monday is my favorite day of the week. I never held an important job but I loved what I did even though I'm sure I did complain sometime. Wife, Mother, and Landlady. It was a good feeling to step back and show an apartment after drugery over the toilet and kitchen stove. I'm still in contact with some of my tenants. I don't know how you think of something different and make it interesting to write about everyday.

Jack I agree with Mary about you being a grateful, hardworking and honest person. Grover and I worked hard all our lives, but we were happy we had a job and were able to buy two homes the first one when we were in our twenties and six years later we had this one built every thing is paid for now we can enjoy our retirement. We don't travel much because of his health he doesn't drive anymore and I don't care to drive on long trips. Lol. Great reading I enjoyed. Take care. Jean

Home is where the heart is. Unfortunately some folks think that the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. And you can't convince them otherwise. Our cars have always been high in mileage and older than dirt. But they get us where we need to go. Changing if you're NOT happy is good advice. Love MA and Lucy. Will check out the boomers page. take care.

Your entry brought this quote to mind:

One hundred years from now,
It won't matter what car I drove,
What kind of house I lived in,
How much I had in my bank account,
Nor what my clothes looked like,
But, the world may be a little better
Because I was important in the life of a child.
You and Sherry have been so influential in the lives of so many, children and adults :)

You will be glad to hear that your pal, Joe came out great on his check up. If you are speaking of this Lucy, You are rich. You are comfortable with money, but most of all you are still crazy in love with your wife and I think the feeling is mutual . That is what I call rich!!

You said it well, "Be happy with your portion of life". The problem today is everyone gets too greedy! Greed is poison.

Hugs to my "favorite" couple!

This blog is very Biblical, Jack! Ecclesiastes 2:24
"There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God."

I enjoy my retired life ... still doing the kinds of things that I have always done while "working". Good post. Wish everyone understood what you have stated here, my friend.
