We have Ice Cream that is FROZEN!

bowl-of-ice-cream

From early in our marriage we established a habit of eating a bowl of ice cream every night while watching TV. It was mostly Vanilla with chocolate syrup, sometimes walnuts. This followed us most of our lives as regular as clock work.

Then the Motor Home happened. The Refer in the motor home is an absorption unit. It does not have a compressor, it cools by heating either with 12v or LP gas. WE have NEVER had a refrigerator that would Freeze Ice Cream.

First story was enough. We had it in the shop. The head mechanic put me on the phone with the factory rep. He assured me it might freeze a little harder if we bought ‘cheap’ ice cream, maybe ice milk. Those have less fats and cream in them and froze at a higher temp.

He further stated, it might even help if you transferred from a 1/2 gal. container to several smaller containers.  WE tried all the helpful hints but still never had good results. As a result, we ended up losing the habit but not the desire :) .  WE settled for a Blizzard at times or a small sundae at McDonalds.

BUT THIS WEEK THINGS CHANGED! I saw on the internet (my shopping mall) a small freezer. I asked questions of buyers. EVERYONE assured me this sucker will freeze Ice Cream.  The little dude is sitting right beside me. Sherry just had her small bowl.

How cool! Looks like the right size too for the motor home! Glad it is working and the ice cream is frozen like it should be! What a nice treat too to end the day together :)

You did have to mention ice cream just when John and I have both been diagnosed as border line diabetic and I'm trying to get us on track. Yeah right, had good fried fish for lunch but I did opt for slaw instead of fries. Just kidding you two enjoy your ice cream without guilt. lol

Glad you got the ice cream to
freeze. I don't need to be eating
it at night but it sure is good.
The only thing my clothes are getting to tight.

Shirl needs to get a new dryer, her's is shrinking her clothes... ;-)
That's great, you found a way to resume your tradition of ice cream. Now maybe you can stay cool in that smoldering state of Florida... :-)
Take care, Sheila

Yay!!!
Vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup atop was a staple during my growing-up years! Right after school, I'd fix a big old bowl then stir it all together like crazy 'til it resembled what Wendy's calls their Frosties.

Funny, you're the very first person in the last 40 years whose used the term 'ice milk.' I don't think my folks bought real ice cream until much later in their lives.
No-one (even Tom) claims to have ever heard of that before, and I was beginning to doubt my own memory!

Uh-oh. Meant to write, who's - not 'whose'!

Glad to hear you can enjoy your favorite tweet again. I'd never seen a freezer like that one before. What a treat for you both ! I don't have ice-cream every night but it is one of my favorites too.

My Husbands Grandparents came over from Italy and opened Dimeo's IceCream Company in Gastonia in 1920 until 1967ish. This was before my time but I still hear everyone talk about how good his icecream was. He worked for his home and deliverd around town in a 1929 ford. No child was left out. The IceCream truck sits in a museum in Rock Hill.
